ARCHIVE: Real World: Using Lunar Soil to Make Oxygen

NASA's plans to return to the moon never materialized, but the ideas and innovations considered for lunar explorations advanced technology. Travel to Hawaii to see tests using a special reactor and a process called hydrogen reduction to release oxygen from the volcanic soil. This process was being tested for possible use on the moon.
